Common names Erythea edulis, Guadalupe palm
Origin Endemic to the Mexican island Guadalupe, off Baja California, it is endangered: wild goats eat the seedlings and fruit.
Cold-hardiness
Leaves are damaged at -8°C (18°F), but older plants can withstand
-12°C (10°F). It survived the harsh 1985-1986 winter, a reference
in extreme cold. It grows faster than other Brahea, and will grow new
palms very quickly in case of extended damage.
Description Brahea edulis is quite similar to its cousin Brahea armata, though it doesn't have its bleu tinge; it has many interesting features: its trunk is thick, its magnificent green palms are green and very tough, its flowers are very ornamental, and its fruit are delicious!
Culture Place it in full sun, with modarate watering; you may also keep it in a container in cooler areas.
